To prevent the spreading of SARS-CoV-2 into China, travelers are permitted to enter China, only if they are able to provide evidence not to be infected. As proof, the Chinese government requests negative results as well for nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) as for IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. Two different IgM-antibodies may be determined: IgM-antibodies against the spike protein (S1) or IgM-antibodies against the nucleocapsid protein (NCP). Both antibodies may be detected in case of acute infection, however the latter provides negative results if you are vaccinated by preparations used in the European Union (Moderna, BioNTech-Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson). Since the Chinese government places greater value on negative results of IgM-antibodies against S1, we recommend the determination of this kind of antibodies, if you are not yet vaccinated. After vaccination IgM-antibodies against S1 and NCP should be measured, to be able to exclude an acute infection in case of detection of IgM-antibodies against S1.
Since the measurement of IgM-antibodies against NCP is laborious and time-consuming, we perform this analysis just once a day. Thus, you receive the result the next day. On Friday you should come in before 11:30 am to get the result before the weekend.
The costs are as follows:
IgM-antibodies against S1: 20,11€
IgM-antibodies against S1 and NCP: 40,22€
Blood withdrawal: 9,30€
Be aware that inactivated vaccines of the Chinese companies Sinovac and Sinopharm both evoke the formation of IgM-antibodies against NCP!
We wish you a nice flight and stay in China!
